On May 15, 2023, Sampoerna University’s Department of Industrial Engineering, in collaboration with the Sampoerna University IEOM Student Chapter, organized an informative company visit to PT Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT). JICT is well-known for its efficient container terminal services and modern infrastructure, holding a 43% market share of the total volume throughput in the international container ports at Tanjung Priok Port. The visit aimed to provide students with practical understanding of the operations and management of one of Indonesia’s leading container terminals, as well as valuable insights into the logistics and supply chain industry.
Throughout the visit, the students also gained insights into the port operating system within the industrial port, from the arrival of ships to the delivery process at the warehouse. The students had the opportunity to observe the loading and unloading processes of vessels at the North Quay of PT JICT, getting a closer look at the modern equipment, specifically the Super Post Panamax Quay Container Crane, which has the largest and most advanced specifications in Indonesia. The students also gained insights into the latest technologies used at JICT to simplify operations and enhance overall productivity. They witnessed the port operating system, from ship arrivals to the delivery processes at the warehouse, thereby obtaining a comprehensive understanding of the entire port operations.
One of the highlights of the company visit was the interaction with industry professionals at JICT.
