Guest Lecture Session on Business Intelligence for Engineers

On March 17, 2023, Sampoerna University's Industrial Engineering Study Program and IEOM Student Chapter organized a guest lecturer session on "Business Intelligence for Engineers." The event took place in 19F2, one of the university's lecture halls, and was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Dr. Surya Danusaputro Liman, the Head of Industrial Engineering Department, Dr. Anak Agung Ngurah Redi, and several industrial engineering lecturers from Sampoerna University. The guest lecturer for the event was ‪Ir. L Tri Wijaya N. Kusuma, Ph.D., CBOA, who is the Head of Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program and an Assistant Professor at Brawijaya University. He is an expert in the field of industrial engineering and has extensive experience in Business Intelligence. Ir. L Tri Wijaya N. Kusuma, Ph.D., CBOA started the lecture by providing an introduction to Business Intelligence and its relevance to the engineering field. He explained how Business Intelligence can help engineers make data-driven decisions when designing and optimizing processes, and provided several real-world examples of how BI is being used in the industry to improve manufacturing processes, reduce costs, and increase efficiency. The lecture also covered various BI tools and techniques such as data mining, data warehousing, and online analytical processing (OLAP). Ir. L Tri Wijaya N. Kusuma, Ph.D., CBOA explained how these tools can be used to extract valuable insights from large data sets, and how they can be integrated with engineering and business processes. The lecture was highly informative and provided valuable insights into the use of BI in the engineering field. The attendees were engaged throughout the lecture and asked several questions during the Q&A session.
