Center for Research and Community Service

Overview

Sampoerna University has been actively encouraging research and community service activities as the embodiment of the Tri Dharma of Indonesian Higher Education. Therefore, the Center for Research and Community Service (CRCS) unit has been established under the VRAA (Vice Rector of Academic Affairs) Office to facilitate and administer our faculties’ research and community service activities.

The primary responsibilities of the CRCS unit are

  1. 1. To help our faculties organize basic and applied research.
  2. 2. To produce innovations that are useful for higher education and for the nation’s supremacy while observing academic norms and ethics based on the scientific autonomic principle of the vision and mission of Sampoerna University, as well as provision of laws and regulations through cooperation with government, industry, and community.
  3. 3. To assist our faculties to organize community service in the form of services, empowerment, and cooperation with the communities with due observance of the norms and ethics and in line with the respective academic competencies.
  4. 4. To conduct community services individually or collaboratively with other faculties and students by applying science and technology. These studies are expected to empower the people, improve the people’s intelligence and the required soft skills, and develop the nation’s intellectual life.

  • Developing research activities that promote technology integration, leadership, social responsibility, and entrepreneurship.
  • Developing research that involves students to contribute to society’s welfare based on the noble values ​​of the Putera Sampoerna Foundation.
  • Developing collaborative research across programs, faculties, and universities at home and abroad.
  • Developing research that solves problems for external partners, commercial purposes, and scientific development.

Research and Community Service Dissemination

To disseminate the results of research and community service projects conducted by SU faculty members, CRCS held the internal dissemination entitled “Innovation and Current Trends on Advanced Material and Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Technology in Education, and Economic Issues.” This event aims to raise awareness, understanding, and action to a wider audience of related fields/topics. The recipients of research and community service internal grant AY.2022-2023 shared the result of their activity using posters as the media.

Writing a Research Grant Proposal for the DIKTI Grant (18 November 2022)
In this sharing session, CRCS invited Prof. Dr, Ir. I Wayan Darmawan, M.Sc., a professor in the Department of Forestry, IPB University, to share his knowledge as well as his experience in applying for research grants. This event was held on 18 November 2022.

Empirical Data Analysis using Quantitative Method (19 June 2023)
CRCS held a workshop “Empirical Data Analysis using Quantitative Method.” This event aims to provide insight to SU faculty members regarding quantitative methods to conduct research. In this event, we invited Prof. H. Yaya S. Kusumah, M.Sc., Ph.D. (Professor in Mathematics Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia)
