Overview

Sampoerna University has been actively encouraging research and community service activities as the embodiment of the Tri Dharma of Indonesian Higher Education. Therefore, the Center for Research and Community Service (CRCS) unit has been established under the VRAA (Vice Rector of Academic Affairs) Office to facilitate and administer our faculties’ research and community service activities.

The primary responsibilities of the CRCS unit are

  1. 1. To help our faculties organize basic and applied research.
  2. 2. To produce innovations that are useful for higher education and for the nation’s supremacy while observing academic norms and ethics based on the scientific autonomic principle of the vision and mission of Sampoerna University, as well as provision of laws and regulations through cooperation with government, industry, and community.
  3. 3. To assist our faculties to organize community service in the form of services, empowerment, and cooperation with the communities with due observance of the norms and ethics and in line with the respective academic competencies.
  4. 4. To conduct community services individually or collaboratively with other faculties and students by applying science and technology. These studies are expected to empower the people, improve the people’s intelligence and the required soft skills, and develop the nation’s intellectual life.

In August 2023, the Center for Research and Community Service (CRCS), Sampoerna University, in collaboration with the British Council and Anglia Ruskin University, successfully hosted a dissemination event titled 'Game-Edutech Research: Using Gamification Demonstrations for Technology, Engineering, Math, and Science (TeRMS) Learning Based on Sustainability and Local Wisdom Principles.' The event brought together teachers from schools in the Pancoran area of South Jakarta and featured expert facilitators, including:

Workshops and Dissemination Activities

• Workshop: Empirical Data Analysis using Quantitative Method with Prof. H. Yaya S. Kusumah, M.Sc., Ph.D. on June 19, 2023

CRCS held a workshop on Empirical Data Analysis using Quantitative Method to equip SU faculty members with practical knowledge in applying quantitative methods for research. The session was delivered by Prof. H. Yaya S. Kusumah, M.Sc., Ph.D., a Professor of Mathematics Education at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, who shared valuable insights from his academic and teaching experience.

Prof Yaya is a Professor in Mathematics Education Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. With a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Curtin University of Technology in Australia, Prof Yaya has taught various courses, including Case Study on Math Education, ICT-based Mathematics Teaching, and Global Issues and Current Trends in Math Education.

• Workshop: How to Utilize POP x Mendeley Application and Prisma Method in SLR Methodology with Pak Kenny Fernando on December 15, 2023

To support research productivity, CRCS held a workshop on POP x Mendeley Application and Prisma Method in SLR Methodology. The session was facilitated by Kenny Fernando, M.S.Ak., CAP., CPFA., Senior Accounting Lecturer at Sampoerna University, who guided participants in optimizing reference management and systematic literature review techniques.

Kenny Fernando is a Senior Accounting Lecturer at Sampoerna University. Pak Kenny holds a Master's degree in Accounting from the University of Indonesia and is a certified Associate Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).

• Workshop: Tips & Trik Pengajuan Proposal "DIKTI Grant" with Prof. Dr. Ir. Pudji Muljono, M.Si on March 8, 2024

CRCS organized a workshop on Tips & Trik Pengajuan Proposal “DIKTI Grant” to provide faculty members with strategies for preparing competitive research proposals. The workshop was led by Prof. Dr. Ir. Pudji Muljono, M.Si., Professor at IPB University, who shared practical approaches and best practices in funding opportunities.

Prof Pudji is a Professor at IPB University's Faculty of Human Ecology. His academic background includes degrees from Institut Pertanian Bogor, Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, and a professorship from Institut Pertanian Bogor.
