Jakarta, April 28, 2026 – Sampoerna University has once again achieved national recognition through the victory of its student team as the Grand Winner of the HSBC Indonesia Business Case Competition 2026, one of the most prestigious business case competitions for undergraduate students in Indonesia. Following this achievement, Sampoerna University will represent Indonesia at the HSBC–HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition in Hong Kong. The awards were presented to the winners by Mr. Henri Togar Hasiholan Tambunan, Head of LLDIKTI Region III & Mr. Stuart Rogers, President Director and Chief Executive Officer of PT Bank HSBC Indonesia
The HSBC Indonesia Business Case Competition 2026 is part of the HSBC BRIDGE Program (Business Resilience, Innovation & Development for Growth in Education), an initiative designed to equip economics and business students across Indonesia with practical skills, industry exposure, and real-world case-based learning. Through a rigorous selection and competition process, participants are challenged to deliver strategic, data-driven business solutions while strengthening their critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
“This victory is the result of the hard work, dedication, and collaborative spirit of our students. We are proud to see Sampoerna University’s young talents demonstrate their excellence on the national stage and now prepare to carry Indonesia’s name to the Asia Pacific level,” said Dr. Wahdi Yudhi, Rector of Sampoerna University.
The winning team from Sampoerna University, Josjis Team, consists of Nathanael Aaron Sutedjo, Charlene Audrey Gunawan, Evan Darren Gunawan, and Graciella Putri Magdalena from the Management Study Program, Class of 2023. Guided by Dr. Imelda Suardi and supported by HSBC Indonesia mentor Lahmazani Yati, the team outperformed finalists from leading universities across Indonesia through sharp analysis, strong collaboration, and compelling presentations.
Throughout the competition, participants were challenged to solve business case studies from various companies across Asia, ranging from fintech to fashion, by identifying key challenges, analyzing risks, and developing strategic solutions complete with implementation plans and financial projections. In one case involving the expansion of a premium streetwear brand into Indonesia, the Sampoerna University team proposed pop-up stores and brand activations in Jakarta through collaborations with a local girl group, the launch of products featuring Indonesian-inspired designs, and guerrilla marketing strategies to build brand awareness.
As the national champion, the Sampoerna University team will undergo an intensive preparation program with HSBC Indonesia to further strengthen their analytical, communication, and presentation strategy skills before competing in Hong Kong against top teams from across the Asia Pacific region. This accomplishment further reinforces Sampoerna University’s commitment to developing future leaders who are adaptive, innovative, and capable of creating positive impact for businesses and society.
